(HugGie BeAr) Occupation : "Ambulance driver" E-mail address : rawbin@mediaone.net Website : Nope Description : Half-Life Deathmatch map ============================================================================================ ------LOGLINE------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set in the late afternoon, a once a well maintained LAMBDA reservoir pump station has now fallen into disrepair and for the most part been abandoned. Leaving behind a reservoir now polluted with rusting barrels full of bio-hazard waste and a still functional helipad surrounded by steep canyon walls that have been carved out by desperate survivors in order to maintain some sort of mobility against the constant threat of enemies. The reservoir pump runs constantly and is in the process of destroying itself, but despite its neglect, it continues to generate a somewhat constant supply of light. The water pressure within the reservoir, having gone unchecked for an extended period of time has caused window implosions and flooding in some lower level areas. Although still accessible, players will now constantly have to monitor their oxygen supply in order to explore and inhabit these areas. ------DESCRIPTION--------------------------------------------------------------------------- This map is chock full of secrets and cool details and was designed in such a way that it favors "clever" combat. In other words, good use of areas and objects to take cover behind, and using your grape to outsmart your trigger-happy opponents. Remember to listen carefully. Do you hear a hydraulic door sound and then footsteps followed by a splash? What do those sounds tell you? Have they just found a teleporter and are now in another area of the map? Or are they about to be on top of you? You'll learn............ Feel safe here in this tunnel? Time to camp for a while? Well maybe you're safe, maybe not. Looks can be deceiving and may cost you a life. The way this map was designed it offers few truly "safe" areas. A spot that looks safe, more than likely is not. With risks having to be made to get/use most items and weapons, your heart will race knowing that you are vulnerable while trying to obtain that desperately needed 9mmAR or trying to use that healthcharger. The jumppack can be used to great advantage in this map, allowing you to cover distance on the ground level quickly, instead of being hampered by the large bodies of water that surround you. There are also airtanks located underwater in this map. They too can be used to great advantage. Although players are not able to carry them, these will allow you to "breathe" underwater as long as you are in contact with them. This enables you to remain underwater for an extended period of time. These airtanks are also destroyable and will disappear when hit with enough destructive force. Only players familiar with this map will be able to remember that they existed if they become causalities during gameplay (either blown up accidentally by that rogue RPG missle or blown up purposefully to hide their breathing powers from other players). Because this is an "arena" style map and the HL engine is not very suitable for this type of gameplay the r-speeds are absolutely horrendous and it is strongly recommended that your computer system be offensively fast with a kick ass video card in order to fully experience what this map has to offer. This map offers the following: - 4 player activated secret doors - 4 illusionary trap doors - 6 player activated trap doors - 1 helicopter (accessible with tau skills, teleportation or the luck of the spawn) - 9 teleporters - 2 jump packs - 2 airtanks (stationary) - 1 hornet gun - 1 357 Magnum (I hate that @*&%#*& weapon.......) - 7 crossbows - 3 shotguns - 8 9mm AR weapons - 4 useable stationary machine guns (they all pack quite a wallop) - 4 rpgs - 2 gluon guns - 2 tau guns - tripmines - satchel charges - grenades With such a wide variety of powerful weapons at your disposal (some requiring a little effort to obtain) and plenty of ammo, you won't spend your time searching or running around with nothing but a 9mm pistol and some courage. Instead, time will be spent exploring the castle, under the helipad, underwater (where only certain weapons are operational), trying to get into the hovering helicopter (How do I get up there? Will those rotating blades kill me?), checking out the soda machines (Why is there a soda machine underwater?), finding all the teleporters and their destinations (and figuring out how to use them to your advantage) and scrambling inside/through the canyon cliffs searching for "campers". How Many Players: Up to the server, but probably 3 - 8 players would be best. If you want that "stalking" style of gameplay, play it with about 3 - 4 people, each of whom use their eyes, ears and grapes rather than stumbling through. ------MAP INFORMATION----------------------------------------------------------------------- New Textures :No New Sounds :No ------CONSTRUCTION-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor(s) used :Worldcraft 3.3 Compile Machine :pentium lll 633MHz Compile time :[21hrs 24m 26s] Playtest time :About 1 month of beta-testing. ------MAP INSTRUCTIONS---------------------------------------------------------------------- Unzip the files in this archive. Some of the prefabricated items that I have come across while searching for ideas are nothing short of amazing. Most of them are free and the author only requests either to be asked for permission or to be mentioned within your text file (here). To claim all the work within this map as my own and screw them out of such a simple request would be very, very low. I must give credit where credit is due. I also feel the need to mention these extremely talented individuals and let them know that my map came out "that much better" because of what they were willing to create and pimp out for free. Thank you.
