Maximillian (HL teamplay primarily/also deathmatch, released 15-May-1999). Maximal (command point TFC, released 8-July-1999). Mad Bucking Fastards (deathmatch, released 27-July-1999). Talos (deathmatch, released 3-August-1999). Who am I? I'm 24 yrs old, English, & currently work for an Architectural Practice in NW England. Started playing/mapping FPS this year (1999), so am not a Quake/TF/Quake2/etc multiplayer veteran. Keep up the good work, Sean. 4) Hello's to all in [SLH]. 5) Records, for salvation from radio/tv hell. ** PLAY INFORMATION ** SINGLE PLAYER: Just to familiarise yourself. MULTIPLAYER: Ideally for 8-12 players. Less if you want more of a cat 'n' mouse game, more if you want a frenzied deathmatch-like game. DESCRIPTION: Those unfamiliar with the ActionQ2/HL concept, ActionQ2/HL maps are set where a movie shoot-out could take place, with the most common theme used being amongst buildings in a city. C4 differs in this respect by not being set in such a location, but more of a setting for the explosive finale at the end of a movie, in an industrial setting. The facility in question in C4 is one that makes explosive substances (ie C4). For those who have played Maximal, C4 has a similar layout. If you know your way around Maximal, you'll be at home in C4 within minutes. The map now isn't symmetrical (ie now only has 1 base), and the plainer areas have been jazzed up a little (in fact, quite a lot). The map has also been made darker to allow players to be more stealthy. Don't like it this dark? What are you playing Action Half-Life for then?! PLAYING: Running speed; wpoly does admittedly get a little too high at times for my liking (~750 max)...hardly critical, but software mode users can expect their PC's to struggle with a few areas. This is a side-effect of having a very open and free connectivity in the map...there are several routes from one place to another, and by the same token several areas of C4 are drawn by the engine from wherever you stand. The wpoly is nothing outlandish though, and with my previous maps I've thought the r_speeds where too high, only for people to say they run fine on lower spec PC's. Lastly, depending on what the A-Team have planned for ActionHL, I may well be releasing an updated version(s) of C4. For example, if new weapons or entities are added, etc. Check back on my website in such an event. Any updated versions will be named differently and take the shape of revision letters (ie gustavo6a_C4.bsp) for easily determining if you have the latest version. Hope you like C4. TFC CTF map with a *heavy* Xeno setting. Scheduled to be available within a month (around mid-Oct 1999). (2) "Lopan". TFC CTF. Partially symmetrical (not fully, as is the CTF norm). Scheduled to be available within a month (around mid-Oct 1999). (3) Provisionally titled "TheHotel" for reference, will probably change title (ideas for a name welcome). An ActionHL map, set in a hotel such as that found in the movie "The Shining". The 2 above TFC CTF maps are both side-projects, TheHotel is my main project. Still at least 2 months from release though. ** INSTRUCTIONS ** To play this map you *need* the Action Half-Life mod, available from http://ahl.telefragged.com Make sure you put the Gustavo6_C4.bsp file into the following directory: ...\\action\maps And of course keep this text file. 8¬) ** CONSTRUCTION ** Base : The base map was Gustavo3a_Maximal.bsp (my own map, so no copyright issues). Editor(s) used : Worldcraft v2.1 Known Bugs : Just that I've stretched lots of textures, so decals may be out-of-shape/size. Also, the textures on the 'furnaces' are sometimes misaligned whilst playing. They're all aligned fine in Worldcraft, but the compiling process seems to cause the alignment in-game to have a mind of its own. Hardly gameplay ruining though. Build Time : 20-30hrs, including playtesting. Compile machine : Intel PentiumII 300mhz, 8mb Ati@Work AGP, 224mb ram, 12mb Creative Labs Voodoo2, DVD, 120mb floppy, etc, blah blah. Compile Times...
