cs_jackpot Counter-strike map version 2.0 Map design and textures by Chris J. Fortier 2001-2002 Please do not modify or de-compile the map in any way. To give suggestions, report bugs or to comment, email cvi@chrisjfortier.com. OBJECTIVE The counter-terrorists must enter the casino through the lobby and rescue the hostages. There are two pairs of hostages in two different locations in the map. Two of them are near the T spawn above the main room. These are most easily rescued by taking them back to the lobby where the CT spawn is. The other two hostages are hidden in the backstage area between the dance club and the movie theater. To rescue these hostages, you must open the curtain to the screen in the movie theater by first entering the projection room. Once backstage, you can take these hostages back to the movie theater where there is an exit that will lead to a rescue point. INSTALLATION Extract all the files to the Half-Life directory. Everything should automatically go to the proper subfolder. Otherwise: .bsp and .txt files go in cstrike\maps .tga files go in cstrike\gfx\env .mdl files go in cstrike\models\cs_jackpot_v2 .wav files go in cstrike\sound\cs_jackpot_v2 REVISIONS IN CS_JACKPOT VERSION 2.0 04/06/2002 (cs_jackpot_v2) These revisions made after beta testing of cs_jackpot_v2beta: - Some of the pawns representing hostages on the map in the T spawn area were moved to represent where the hostages actually are. - Parts of the desk holding the three monitors broke like a computer when fired upon. This was fixed. - The clip brush in front of the movie projector was removed. - The ladders were tweaked for easier descending. - The rescue point entity outside the theater was moved slightly. --A vent was added between the projection room and the rescue point to create an emergency pathway to flank any Terrorists who might create a defensive position in the rescue point area. - Models were added displaying cup sizes in the snack area of the cinema. A light was added to illuminate these. - A hotdog cooker was added. - The front of the projector emits a little light. - The tops of the halogen lamps are clipped to prevent players from unrealistically crouching on top of them. - A cigarette receptacle model was added. REVISIONS IN CS_JACKPOT VERSION 2.0 BETA 03/23/2002 (cs_jackpot_v2beta) Gameplay Revisions: - The slot machines in the main room were sectioned off in their own space to make this large area less open. - Part of the security center was partitioned into a meeting room with a table, bookstand and several flags. - One of the security windows was removed to account for the lowered ceiling throughout the main room below. - Doors were added in the passageways to the Slot Room, Poker Room and Craps/Roulette Room. This also makes these areas less open. - Instead of having separate controls for the movie screen and curtain, you now have a single button attached to a new movie projector that turns off the music, opens the curtain and starts the projector. There is also a switch behind the curtain that will simply open the curtain. The screen itself can no longer be raised. - The two backstage hostages were moved back directly behind the screen. Although this moves them closer to the CTs, the Ts can get to this place roughly ten seconds earlier. It is also a little more defendable due to the screen staying put. - The lobby stairs were tweaked. They now extend to the wall behind them. Cosmetic Revisions: - This is now a day map (complete with an alternate skybox) to distinguish it better from the de_jackpot_vx maps. - The exit area off the theater has been radically altered and includes outside ambient noise. - The wall and floor textures and also the color scheme in the main casino area were changed. Most of the floors are now carpeted. - Textures were added to the sides and tops of the slot machines. - Some signs were added in the main area and they all now are lit. - A couple gaited off food/drink areas were added. - The walls of the cinema lobby area were retextured and a ticket sign, snacks sign and popcorn machine was added. - A row of arcade and vending machines was added at the entrance to the cinema. - Some wall and floor textures were redone throughout. - The walls of the Dance Club were retextured, neon outlines of dancers were added and runway-style lights were added around the dance floor. - New round hanging lights were added in the backstage areas. - Detail was added in the hallway with the staircases, such as a new door to nowhere and some paintings. - The directory room was altered, with a new directory and bulletin board. - The tables in the Dance Club and Poker room now cast shadows and thus can no longer be destroyed. - The textures on the overhead lamps were flipped. - Some new models have been added to the map: potted plants, cans of Coke, cups of pop and buckets of popcorn. Technical Revisions: - The textures are included in the map (no wad file) and it is now a separate download from the de_jackpot_vx maps. - One of the terrorists no longer spawns inside the computer chair. - "Sky" textures were added to parts of objects throughout the entire map to drastically decrease polygon counts. - One of the switches for the theater curtain was floating off the wall in version 1. This problem was eliminated when the switch was deleted. Plus many more subtle changes. REVISIONS IN CS_JACKPOT VERSION 1.0 12/23/2001 (cs_jackpot_v1) About a third of the map (the restaurant, bar and lounge areas) are removed completely. These areas were pretty much useless in cs_jackpot (beta 0.37) and removing them improves game flow. These areas reappear in the sister map de_jackpot, in which instead, the cinema and backstage area have been removed. Other changes were made to make the map more Terrorist friendly (in beta 0.37, the CT's won 2/3 of the time). Cover and camping spots have been added and the two remote hostages have been moved to a more defendable position. The rest of the changes were made to enhance the visual appeal of the map. - Custom skybox added - Many texture improvements - Security Center altered - Modifications and detail added to backstage area - Decoration added throughout map - You can jump over the ropes - Bullets go through railings with full damage - Some textures now have material properties - You can control the cameras better - 16 spawn points for each side ORIGINAL RELEASE BETA 0.37 10/18/2001 (cs_jackpot) SPECIAL THANKS... To the Bee Gees for the dance club music and Carter Burwell for the Fargo tunes in the movie theater and also to the creators of Half-Life and Counter-strike.
