*********** K I T K A T *********** A Deathmatch Model for Half-life Author of the Kitkat model, skin and spray logo is Joseph Chapman A.K.A. Doubleclick, of the clan DRS (www.drs.purespace.de) doubleclick75@hotmail.com Named after and dedicated to my friend Kate "Petal" Vieux A.K.A. KITKAT Thank you for downloading my first ever model, created with Chumbalum Software's excellent Milkshape 3d program. Put the Kitkat folder in your Sierra\Half-Life\Valve\Models\Player folder. The file called pldecal.wad is a spray logo of Kitkat's head. To use it, place it in your Sierra\Half-Life\Valve folder. Windows will prompt you to "...Overwrite Existing File?". If you do not mind replacing the first logo of the Valve originals, the spray of the circular 'h' logo, click "Yes". If you do not want to overwrite the original spray, move your present pldecal.wad file to a new folder. The logo will only work if you do not change the settings for the spray in your Customise menu. It is OK to choose player characters, but if you do anything to the spray logo box it will reset and the logo will not work in the game. You will not see the logo in the Customise menu; this is not a problem, if you follow these instructions it will be trouble-free tiger-related vandalism all the way. The model is 10% shorter than the standard HL humanoid. This has been done to balance the size of its head and limbs, which are bigger than normal. It is certainly no Kermit, if you know what I mean. Gordon Freeman is roughly 6 feet 3 inches tall, and Kitkat's head is large and the model stands approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall. Imagine your mum in a crash helmet. She wouldn't be difficult to shoot, would she? (only joking, ma...) This is model was deliberately created with a high polygon count, albeit less than I intended: 954. It is intended for players who, like me, want eyecandy. With the HL High Definition Pack due any moment now, it is time to raise the bar I think. If this causes slowdown on your machine- it should be fine with a PII or above PC featuring a graphics card made in the last three years- the simple answer is, don't install it! Quake III models use 1000-2000 polys, and the guidelines commonly used for HL models are based on the requirements of the average systems of 1998. Kitkat is a character from a multiplayer mod which is currently in production. This is the only animal character, all the rest are human, or at least as much like a human as this is like a tiger. The other mod characters are all in the baggy jeans style of nearly every hip-hop, d&b, techno, indie and even metal kid out there, in a calculated move to attract players from many disparate scenes. This is the only animal character, all the rest are human, or at least as much like a human as this is like a tiger... As a result of this, this model is NOT TO BE USED IN YOUR MODS. I own the copyright on the design too, so please, no conversions, it would interfere with the entire plan. Currently on board, we have; a professional office network software programmer, a Planet Half-Life CS mapper (currently working in a major software firm making PC, PS2 and X-Box games) and myself, the mod designer, modeller and soundboy. We need more people; if you have experience in mod coding, mapping, physics or server administration we would love to hear from you. The team so far all live in my town, which is a major advantage on communication, and we are committed to making the best mod possible. This will obviously not be a soldier mod. I am bored to tears with soldiers. This will be a fun game and the objectives, scenario and gameplay are quite different to everything currently available. The models will also feature new animations, but I couldn't wait to get Kitkat out there now. Tigers are an endangered species - damn right. After boiling my eyes for two weeks making this thing, I was absolutely livid about these stripy gits. After completing this I went into the city to clear my head, and there was one at the bus stop, you know how they do that "ooh, look at me, aren't I so very complex?" smug look...I beat the living crap out of it, and I advise you to do the same. I hope you like it. DOUBLECLICK, Fly Casual Recordings April 23rd 2001 Thanks to Polycount (cheers Hunter), Wavelength and Valve
