Ravelin CTF (ravelin_ctf.bsp) – by Dmitry (AKA "Dimmi64") An unofficial conversion of Ravelin into a standard Capture the Flag map. ------------------------------------------------------ 1 – INSTALLATION ------------------------------------------------------ Place the included 'maps' and 'gfx' folders into your "tfc_downloads" directory, usually found at: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\tfc_downloads If you want to play with bots, make sure you have FoxBot installed. You can download it here: https://github.com/APGRoboCop/foxbot Once installed, copy the "waypoints" and "scripts" folders from the “FoxBot support” folder into: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\tfc\addons\foxbot\tfc That’s it and you’re ready to go! ------------------------------------------------------ 2 – MAP INFO ------------------------------------------------------ I’ve created quite a few custom maps for Team Fortress Classic in the past, including: MetropolisX (metropolisX.bsp), Snowbowl (snowbowl_r.bsp), Caravan (caravan.bsp), Avanti Part II (avantipt2.bsp), NOT2FORT (not2fort_r.bsp), among many others. "Ravelin", a reverse-CTF (R-CTF) map, was the last official map released by Valve for Team Fortress Classic back in 2003. The map itself is beautifully designed, and easily one of the most visually impressive maps ever made by Valve for TFC. However, since it came out in a late update, most players aren’t very familiar with it. The main reason I decided to develop a standard CTF version of Ravelin is because, despite reverse-CTF being an interesting variation of the classic mode, many players seem confused by it, and some simply don’t enjoy the idea of delivering your flag to the enemy base. So, I decided to make this conversion, allowing Ravelin to be played as a traditional Capture the Flag map. Decompiling the original map proved to be a challenge, even with the best tools currently available, the result had many misplaced textures, broken brushes, and other issues. I had to manually recreate several sections from scratch, so this is not a perfect 1:1 conversion. Changes were kept minimal: a few crates were added here and there, some textures were slightly modified, lighting was completely reworked, and the skybox was adjusted to make it visually distinct from its R-CTF counterpart. ------------------------------------------------------ 3 – CONTACT ------------------------------------------------------ If you’d like to report bugs or make suggestions, feel free to reach out via the TFC-Reloaded Discord: https://discord.gg/Q2J2NN2sq9 (unless it’s dead, of course...)
