================================================================================ * LEVEL INFORMATION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE : Sniper Zone (Revised) FILENAME : sniperzone_r .zip CONTENTS : sniperzone_r.bsp sniperzone_r.txt sniperzone_r.res sn_r_fencejump.exe sn_r_readme.txt AUTHOR : Robert 'aXon' Stephens EMAIL : axon@valve-erc.com ICQ : 43695013 HOMEPAGE : Pixel Map Reviews - http://www.pixelmaps.com/ DATE : 12/19/2001 GAME PLAY TYPE : Half-Life: Team Fortress Classic (Sniper DM) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * LEVEL DESCRIPTION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The most popular sniper map for TFC is back and better than ever! Sniper Zone is simply a map where you, as a sniper, attempt to kill other snipers. Simple, eh? Each team has a 3-story building with several windows, as well as a yard area with some crates to provide cover. Try your luck shooting the fan blades in the respawn, or hide in the Crate of Destiny! I didn't skimp on the ambience just because it's a sniper map. You'll be immersed in crickets, billowing smokestacks, and the sound of a distant warzone. * Changes in the revised version: - Team Scores! See how your team did as a whole. 1 Kill == 1 Team Point. - Added anti-fence-jump measures for server admins who don't like fence jumpers. This feature can be toggled on and off. See below. - Added distant mortars, a jet flyby, and some other ambient stuff. - Added a fan in the respawn for target practice. - Rearranged the crates outside to give a more natural feel, as well as create better hiding spots. - Fixed the "Evil Door" that caused people to get stuck in the crate (it is now simply permanently open). - Added a ladder for roof access. - Changed the fence damage to "Barbed Wire"; 3 health is lost for touching it. - Generally cleaned up the archtecture and texture work a bit. * Using the Anti-Fence-Jump Toggle Program: The program modifies the BSP itself to enable/disable the trigger_hurt that kills players attempting to jump the fence. Modifying the BSP with this program does not modify the BSP's checksum, and players using either version of the map (allowing or disallowing fence jumps) will be able to play the map. No re-downloading is required. To use it, simply extract the executable to the same directory as you extracted sniperzone_r.bsp and run it. This will modify the BSP accordingly. No parameters are required; the anti-fence-jumping feature will simply be toggled each time the program is run. By default, the map comes with the anti-fence-jump measures enabled. If you do not have the EXE file (you downloaded this from a game server?), then you should visit http://www.pixelmaps.com/ to get the official ZIP'd version of the map, which contains the EXE. * "Most Popular?" At the time of this writing, Sniper Zone (Original verison) was the most downloaded sniper map on Fileplanet, with almost 7000 downloads (more downloads than SniperWar itself). It was ranked #26 most downloaded TFC map of all time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM FORTRESS CLASSIC : 16 Player Respawn Points per Team SUGGESTED PLAYER LOAD : 2 - 16 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * CONSTRUCTION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BASE MAP USED ? : Original version of Sniper Zone (created by me) PREFABS USED ? : None EDITORS USED : Worldcraft 3.3 UTILITIES USED : Zoner's HL Tools KNOWN BUGS : None COMPILE MACHINE : Home Built Athlon 900 MHz, 256 MB RAM, GeForce2 MX CSG : 20 Seconds BSP : 13 Seconds VIS : 132 Seconds QRAD : 673 Seconds -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * OTHER LEVELS BY THE AUTHOR * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HLDM : Octolab TFC : Sniper Zone (Original) TFC : Theft TFC : Overlook TFC : Absolute Zero TFC : 2Silo (in development) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * CREDITS * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deathwish and Dietz : Beta testing Vigilnte : Providing a server for Pixel (which was used to test this map) SpecialG and RanMan : Beta testing, even though you complained about having to download a beta map. =P -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * COPYRIGHT/PERMISSIONS * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By installing, using, playing, reviewing and/or distributing the "Sniper Zone (Revised)" Half-Life: Team Fortress Classic level, and/or any accompanying executables, graphics, and/or textures (collectively the "map"), you indicate that you understand and agree to this disclaimer, even if you have not read it for any reason.
